How it Went

For my semester final I created a web page. This included information about me and some of my projects from first semester. We used Adobe Dreamweaver to create a website with instructions from a video. I created my website, but had some problems with my sidebar. I finally figured out my sidebar issues, and then started to create my color scheme. I changed it a few time, but eventually ended with a blue and green scheme.

What I Learned

I learned how to use Dreamweaver in this project. I also learned a lot about Web Design and code. I have never used Dreamweaver before, so it was really cool to see all the components of  the program. I learned that it was much harder to make a website then I thought it was. This project was really fun and I enjoyed making my own website.

My Logo

My Logo

The Process

This week, I created a logo to represent myself. I sketched out many ideas, but I couldn't find one that I liked enough. After a lot of sketches, I decided to combine some of my favorite ideas. There were a few options, and I was going to make them all on the computer, then decide which one I liked. The next day, I created my three designs on Adobe Illustrator. I created them in black and white, and then decided on a circle based logo. After that, I created many different color options. I had twelve different options to choose from, and I couldn't decide. Eventually, I narrowed it down to eight, then four, then two, and then my final logo.

The Design

My finished logo
I chose a circle for my logo because I did not want any edges on my logo. I wanted to give a calming feel and I wanted it to look completed. The font was a little tricky for me. I experimented with all of the cursive typeface, but none of them looked the way I wanted. Since I had a specific way wanted the typeface, I used the paintbrush and drew it out. I used pastel colors of blue, orange, purple, and pink to create a sunset.  Like I mentioned earlier, I wanted to give a calming feel and sunsets remind me of feeling calm and relaxed.

CARP Poster

CARP Poster

Contrast

During this project, I used contrast in my design. Contrast helps people see the important things in a poster, and helps guide them through the information. I made the text different colors, using color contrast. The typeface is also different sizes, which is size contrast. I used bold and unbolted fonts, and I also used opacity and transparency contrast.

Alignment

I used alignment by lining things up with each other. I used right alignment for the important information. For the less important information, I used a smaller font in the left corner. This text lined up with the text at the top left corner. Alignment helps the poster look more organized.

Repetition

Repetition is used to repeat ideas to make the poster more appealing. I used the same font throughout the poster. I also used the same color for the information. There was a lot of repeating of black in my poster. This helped pull out the important information.

Proximity

For proximity, I grouped information that was related together in different groups. I grouped all of the copyright information together and put them farther away, so they looked like they belonged together. I also grouped the date and time information. The ticket information was grouped together too, like how and where to get a ticket. I grouped the date and ticket information together too, but not as much as the individual information together.

Typography

Typography

Overview

The focus this week was typography. We learned about different fonts, like sans-serif and serif. Also, we learned about the "anatomy" of typography, and the different parts to each letter. Our project  required us to write our name, and identify the different parts of the letters, such as the bowl, or the crossbar. I used Adobe Illustrator to complete my project. I learned a lot about typography and Illustrator while doing this project, too.

What I Learned

I learned a lot of new things about typography this week. This was the first time I learned about typography, so I learned a lot of things I didn't know, such as the different parts of the letters. In Illustrator, I learned how to create a line, and add an arrow to the end. The serif and sans-serif fonts was also a new topic I learned more about. I also learned about the spaces between the letters and lines, which is kerning and tracking.

How It Went

While we were learning about typography in class, I took notes so I could use them when I was creating my project. I also watched the instructions video and followed it step by step. next project, I will add more color to my project. I was struggling to find 10 labels for my project, but I eventually found 10 to use. This project was fu to do, and I learned a lot about typography.

Logo Color Schemes

Logo Color Schemes

Analogus

This logo uses the analogous colors of yellow, yellow-green, and green. I think the company probably chose these colors because they want to give the impression that they are environment friendly.

This logo uses the analogous colors of orange and pink. I think the company probably chose these colors because they sell coffee, and want to energize their customers with bright colors.

Complementary

This logo uses the complementary colors of purple and orange. I think the company probably chose these colors because they are portraying to their customers fast delivery and energy, which is orange, and purple, which is royalty.

This logo uses the complementary colors of red and green. I think the company probably chose these colors because the colors also are Christmas colors, and they want you to think of sweetness, and red is also hunger.

Warm

This logo uses the warm colors of red and yellow. I think the company probably chose those colors because their chips are meant to be eaten with salsa, and red is the color of salsa and hunger.

This logo uses then warm colors of red and yellow. I think the company probably chose these colors because they want to energize you using yellow and red.

Cool

This logo uses the cool color blue. I think the company probably chose this color because they want make you feel relaxed while using their app.

This logo uses the cool colors of blue and purple. I think the company probably chose these colors because they want you to depend on them and feel calm when you go to their business.

Monochromatic

This logo uses different shades of green. I think the company probably chose these colors because they want to associate their company with nature, since their main focus is animals.

This logo uses different shades of brown and orange. I think the company probably chose these colors because they focus on rootbeer, and brown is the color of rootbeer.

Triad Colors

This logo uses the triad colors of red, yellow and blue. I think the company probably chose those colors because the colors remind people of a burger, using yellow and red, and then blue adds a pop of color.

This logo uses the triad colors of red, yellow, and blue. I think the company probably chose those colors because they want you to feel competed, but excited to fly on their plane.

Color Wheel

Color Wheel

Completed Color Wheel

Overview

Our assignment this week in graphic design was to create a color wheel in Adobe Illustrator. We learned about the different colors (primary, secondary, tertiary) and how they are mixed to create other colors. We then learned about Adobe Illustrator tools and how to use them. This was our first time using Illustrator, so we learned a lot of new things. The project was fun to experiment with, using colors, text, shapes, and other features.

What I Learned

This was my first assignment in Graphic Design, so I learned a lot of new things. We learned about all of the colors, and the different levels. The first level was primary (red, blue, and yellow), then secondary (orange, green, and violet), and finally tertiary (yellow-orange, red-orange, red-violet, violet-blue, blue-green, and yellow-green). We learned about all the different tools in Adobe Illustrator and their uses. For example, we used the shape tool for the circles, triangles, and squares in the color wheel. I also learned how to use shortcuts to resize and move my designs.

How I Did

During this project, I made sure to take good notes so I could use them on my project. I followed the directions and made sure to include every aspect of the color wheel. I had some trouble with the shades of colors, but I eventually figured it out using the color tool. Next project, I will add more creative aspects to my project. I will also make the shapes or graphics more even, because they are crooked. This project was really fun to do, and I enjoyed creating my own color wheel.

Chase Scene

Chase Scene

Our assignment this week was to create a chase scene. We started off by creating 3 ideas for our scenes. The ideas I came up with were feasible, and we could have shot them around the school. My groups idea was a person "spray painting" and vandalizing a car. While he is spray painting the car, the owner walks up and chases him throughout the school. She finally catches the vandal, and brings him out to her car to clean the paint off.

My team walked around the school to pick our locations. We all agreed on a path for our scene to follow, and we walked it so we would remember where to go. The filming process went very well, my team worked nicely together. For every scene, we got multiple shots from different angles so when we were editing, we had options. We each had a job, which made the process more effecient. When we had a disagreement, we shot the scene twice using both ideas. There weren't any problems while shooting. After we filmed, I edited my video. I used Adobe Premier Pro to edit. My editing skills have improved since the first project. I've learned to cut on the action to make my video flow better. I hope to learn how to use more effects and more features in the future.

Throughout the project, my team worked really well together. We all agreed on ideas, and what our route should be. if we didn't agree on a certain shot, we compromised and filmed two shots. We had a lot of fun while filming, too. In our next team activity, we should spend more time on editing. Overall, this project was fun to create, and I enjoyed filming and editing it.

AB Sequence

AB Sequence

This week, my partner and I worked on a video showing how to get from Point A to Point B. We use all six shots and worked on video sequencing and editing. In class, we learned about the 6 different types of shots to use, and each one was used in our project. Video sequencing was also an important part of the process. We had to make sure that the setting stayed consistent and made sense, and that it didn't skip around the building.

The creative process started with a storyboard. We brainstormed a plot, and then created a sketch of each shot. Our AB sequence plot showed a student getting to school, and trying to find her class. The student gets lost, and ends up in many different places before finding the correct room. We thought this would be a creative and unique idea, and entertaining to watch.

I edited my video using Adobe Premier. I imported all of my shots, and then placed them in the right order. A few weeks ago, we learned how to use Premeier to edit. We learned a lot of new tips and tricks to use when editing. For my AB Sequence, I trimmed my clips, and then added background music. I chose music with a mysterious theme, but at the same time it was still upbeat and fun.

Overall, this project was one of my favorites. I liked that we could choose what our plot was about. My partner and I worked really well together, and had a lot of fun filming! Next time, we will try to get more shots to work with. We will also make sure to use all 6 shots, just like we did in this one. This project was overall really fun to film and edit, and I learned new things about Adobe Premeir, the 6 shots, and filmmaking.

How to Print a Document Video

How to Print a Document

How to Print a Document Video

This week in class, we created a video teaching you how to create and print a document. We started by creating a storyboard and sketching out our ideas for each frame, making sure to use different shots and angles for each one. Next, we went to the library and shot some pictures to get an idea for our video. After that, we then shot our video clips. Our last step was editing and exporting the video. Our group agreed on all of our shots, and helped shoot the pictures and videos.

During this project, I learned a lot of new skills. I learned how to shoot pictures to make them more interesting. I also learned how to use an editing program that I've never used before. I had to use communication in my group to make sure everyone agreed on what we were creating. We had to use collaboration and accept each others ideas. We also had to use time management to make sure we were on track, and wouldn't run out of time.

In this project, I would have shot more video so I had more to work with. I also would have had more shots, like wide or extra wide, to make it more interesting. I would still edit it the same, and have the same plot. Overall, this project was really fun to shoot and edit. The creation process was a good learning experience, and I learned a lot of new things.

Sidewalk Chalk Project

Sidewalk Chalk

During the sidewalk chalk activity this week, we learned about symbols and color. First, we brainstormed, and each of us came up with a symbol to represent ourselves. Then we sketched a rough draft on to our paper. After we brainstormed the symbols, we came up with colors for each one. We went with a color scheme of pink, yellow, green , and blue. Each symbol had its own color. We had to come up with a way to combine all four symbols into one design. My group decided on a crest split in 4, with each of our symbols in one corner. In the middle, we put all of our names. When we created our flag in the courtyard, we all helped color in the background, and helped with each of our symbols. We added some flowers around the crest.

My team worked really well together. We all agreed on an idea, and worked together to draw and create it. Everyone had their own contribution to the group. The symbols helped represent each one of us, and when we put them together, it helped represent all of us working together. In the next activity, we will make sure to add more detail to parts of it, because the top part of our square was blank. We will still work together and cooperate. The collaboration helped us get to know our other classmates, and get to work with them on a. fun and creative project.
