Final Reflection

The Project

For our final project, we had to create a new, innovative product, and use graphics to promote the product and pitch it to an audience. My team created the product Flare, which is a rechargeable, heated coffee cup with adjustable temperature. We started the project at the beginning of fourth quarter, and it took about 9 weeks. my team disagreed on some things, but we compromised and used everyones ideas. I learned a lot about teamwork and collaboration, and also things about design and graphics. we were given some feedback on our presentation, so we made our presentation flow more. I think that my team worked well together and had fun, and I think our project ended up being pretty good.

 What We Made

My team stayed productive during this project by looking at due dates and deadlines, and seeing when things needed to be done, and then splitting up the tasks so it would get done faster. Our team had to create a website for the project, along with other graphics, and a commercial. The website was mainly done by one person, and all of the graphics were created by the other people on the team. I created the web banner, the mascot, the word mark, and the animated ad. The commercial that is embedded is my commercial, but we did not use it for our website. There was also a coupon, and all of these are shown above. If we finished our part, we would help our teammates if they needed it. We also communicated outside of class to make sure we had everything done, and to communicate important information.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I think my strength in e-Comm is graphic design or video. I can be creative and create different things. I am also better at using the programs for these two areas. The areas where I struggled were animation and web. I am not good at using Dreamweaver and Sketchup.

Conclusion

During this quarter, I liked rotating classes because it gave you a chance to try everything and meet the teachers. I also liked creating our own logo because we had freedom to create whatever we wanted. If I could change something, I would want to have the projects build off of each other. I learned a lot of new things this year, and how to use many new programs that I had never used before. Next year, I want to improve my skills and make new projects.  this year was really fun an always enjoyed going to class.

CSS and CARP

Overview

For our quarter 3 web project, we re-designed a poem about a dog. I used Adobe Dreamweaver to create my project. The HTML file was changed using the CSS designer. You can change the properties of the different components in the program.  The two attached pictures show the before and after of the HTML files.

Contrast

I changed the color of the title, so it was different than other parts of the project. The font in the title was also changed. In the first paragraph, the very first line was bolded to create contrast. The background was also a different color than the other background.

Alignment

The poem was aligned to the right, while the picture of the dog was to the left. The title was center aligned to show it was important. This made the project look more organized.

Repetition

The color of the title matches part of the dog's fur. This color appears again at the bottom of the screen and also at the top. Th lighter background color was also repeated from the dog.

Proximity

The poem was grouped together because the color was the same. The dog was in its own group to the left. In the title, the color was the same so it was its own group.

Conclusion

During this project, I learned a lot about CSS Designer and web design. I learned how to change the properties in CSS. I also learned more about Dreamweaver because I haven't used it a lot. It is interesting to see the way the file changes if you change the code or the properties. It was fun to learn how to create HTML files in Dreamweaver, and using the CSS designer.

House Project

Used for the brick posts at the front of the house.
Used for top part of the front roof, changed to blue color.

Overview

For this project, we picked a house from houseplans.com and we created it using SketchUp. We had to include custom textures from online. We had to create windows and the door, and the other details. This project was fun to do because we got to create the house that we picked. I also learned a lot of new things about SketchUp.

How it Went

During the project, I restarted my house because the roof was too intricate, and I was struggling with the shape. Once I picked a new plan, it was super easy to do, and I liked making all of the details. I created the door and the windows easily, and I experimented with the different kinds of textures. My house turned out more narrow than the picture. Overall, my house was fun to create.

What I Learned

I learned a lot about Adobe SketchUp during this project. I did not have a lot of experience with it before this project, so that was kind of a challenge. The tools were confusing at first, but after I used it more, I learned what they were for and when to use them. I liked picking my own house and getting the freedom to make it how I wanted. This project helped me learn a lot of new things about animation and SketchUp, and it was really fun to do.

Bounce

Bounce

I created three bouncing ball animations using Adobe Photoshop. The first animation was a ball bouncing straight up and down. The next animation was a ball bouncing in from the corner of the screen. For the third animation, you had to create your own animation. Mine was a ball bouncing across a screen, and then it fell into a hole.

To create the ball animation, we used Adobe Photoshop. I created the sky and the grass, and then the ball. I animated it by creating copies of the ball and spacing them so it looked like it was bouncing. I did the same process for the other animations but just spaced them out more. For the third animation, I added a hole at the end and made the ball fall into it.

During this project, I learned a lot about animation and Photoshop. I had not done anything with animation before, so it was interesting to see the process. I had never used Photoshop either, and I enjoyed learning about all of the new tools and what they do. I had some trouble with the speed of the ball, but I learned how to fix it. This project was fun to create because I learned how to animate and learned how to use a new program.

My Personality Type

My personality type is ESFJ. People with this personality are supportive and helpful. Some call this personality "The Provider". They pay attention to other peoples needs and emotions and want to please and provide. Family and friends are one of their top priorities. William McKinley, Nancy Kerrigan, and Martha Stewart are all ESFJ's.

I think that this type describes me pretty well. I pay attention to other peoples emotions and want to help other people. ESFJ's also plan ahead of time and are organized. I am not the most organized person, and I don't really plan things ahead unless it becomes too overwhelming. This personality type also follows through with what they do, and I always try to finish what I start.

Learning more about my personality has explained more about me. I have always cared about peoples emotions and wanted to help people around me. Some say ESFJ's like entertaining people, and that might be why I like cheerleading. The E in ESFJ stands for extraverted, and I like to be with my friends or family when I have extra time. I want to work in a field that helps people, which is a characteristic of ESFJ's.

When I work in a team, I want to help lead, but also make sure everyone is feeling good about what they're doing. I also want the group to work together. This is a characteristic of ESFJ's, they want harmony and cooperation around them. If the role I need to fill matches my personality, then it will be easier to do what I need to. If it does not match my personality, then it might be hard to not "organize" everyone to make sure they are satisfied.

In the past, my friends might have misunderstood that ESFJ's want to please everyone. For example, I might say what someone wants to hear, even though it wasn't what I agreed with. I usually get along well with others, but get a little upset if someone doesn't respond to me trying to be friendly, which could be misunderstood. I also enjoy getting to know someone and remembering small details about a person. Sometimes people get annoyed when I ask for their opinion when I make decisions, which is the F(feeling) part of the personality.

After I took the quiz and looked into my personality type, I could agree that I have a lot of the characteristics mentioned. As I kept reading and writing more about my type, I realized that a lot of the things that I do are based on different parts of my personality. I think I have learned a lot about myself and why I do things. It was interesting to see all of the different characteristics and traits that I didn't notice until now. I learned a lot more about myself and my personality while doing this assignment.

For my animal personality test, I scored a 21 in Column 1, a 60 in Column 2, a 31 in Column 3, and a 15 in Column 15. This means I'm an otter. Otters are very social and they like to motivate and influence others. They are a people person and are positive. I think that this personality fits me pretty well. Some of the aspects of it don't fit me, but overall it is pretty accurate.

How it Went

For my semester final I created a web page. This included information about me and some of my projects from first semester. We used Adobe Dreamweaver to create a website with instructions from a video. I created my website, but had some problems with my sidebar. I finally figured out my sidebar issues, and then started to create my color scheme. I changed it a few time, but eventually ended with a blue and green scheme.

What I Learned

I learned how to use Dreamweaver in this project. I also learned a lot about Web Design and code. I have never used Dreamweaver before, so it was really cool to see all the components of  the program. I learned that it was much harder to make a website then I thought it was. This project was really fun and I enjoyed making my own website.
